PVC-free closures to be on the march
More and more
food manufacturers now choose PVC-free sealants. Where shelves were
once exclusively dominated by glass jars with contents from
Feinkost Dittmann, the list of manufacturers using packaging free
of PVC and plasticizers now reads like a Who's Who of the delicacies
sector. Accordingly, suppliers of natural foods Bruno Fischer
and Zwergenwiese have for some time now been among those
companies achieving "a further milestone for the sake of nature"
(Bruno Fischer) by using PVC-free lids. Larsen Seafood, Orto Mio
(pestos, sauces), Hutesa (e.g. pickled olives), Jütro, Münchner
Kindl Senf, Tartex, Polli (e.g. pestos, sauces, pickled
vegetable), Hojiblanca (olives, olive oil, wine), Lee Kum
Kee (flavored sauces) are other commercial fillers who entirely
rely on PROVALIN®. What's more, the compound is currently
being qualified by many companies which are about to launch products
with PVC-free lid seals. Individual discussions and product
developments are also being held with brand-name producers and when it
comes to own brands, there is also a willingness to take the decisive
step toward converting to low-migration and/or migration-conformant
seals.
"We have
waited a long time for such a solution for ranges in glass packaging",
is the almost universal opinion held by the trade and consumer goods
industry.
Those who
rely on this PVC-free seal today can depend on tested safety. All
seals are tested thoroughly prior to commercialization. Test
laboratories like Institut Nehring and SQTS in
Switzerland regularly draw up independent migration reports. |
